MEX II Exciter
MEXII is a new generation of UHF/VHF multimode Exciters covering all the Digital and Analog TV standards with automatic control and supervision functions.
All operations necessary for the generation of a high quality RF signal are completely performed by a Real Time Digital Signal Processing using a FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array).
By loading two different firmware in the memory card, the modulator can operate as Dual Cast, with the possibility to switch from analog to digital transmission with a simple command (local or remote).
Within the transmitter the MEX II, together with the control unit, forms the core of the chain: it receives the signal from the studio, modulates it according to the selected standard and passes it on to the amplification stages. The same platform is used across all Itelco lines, from compact transmitters to modular air cooled and liquid cooled ones, keeping the control logic unchanged.
In Dual Exciter configurations two MEX II units work in redundancy: both receive the signal, but only one is routed to amplification through a coaxial switch while the other stands ready to take over.
FPGA Digital Processing
All operations required to generate the RF signal are performed in real time by a Digital Signal Processing stage on FPGA, for consistent and repeatable performance

A single exciter for Analog TV, ATSC, DVB-T/H, DVB-T2 and ISDB-T/Tb, built on a reduced-complexity "Single CHIP" platform
Dual Cast Operation

Digital pre-equalization and manual or adaptive pre-correction, internal 10 MHz reference lockable to an external one and optional GPS receiver for SFN operation
